‘My Breakfast’ is an interactive tour of the farm that teaches children ‘where our food comes from’ as well as ‘seasonality in food’ and ‘where and how a variety of ingredients are grown, reared, caught and processed’. Children will be tasked with finding the various ingredients on the farm that go into making their breakfasts from milk to eggs to cereals. Children will see what its like to milk a cow, find out how a chicken lays an egg, how seeds sown in the ground, magically becomes bread.
For more mature children we also meet our pigs and find out how they are reared in different farming environments. This aspect can be tailored to your groups specific requirements we are careful to be sensitive to children’s emotional responses and the whole section can be avoided completely if it were to cause conflict or offence with a groups religious or ethical beliefs .
Animal welfare features highly and children will understand how they and their families can choose higher welfare produce when in a shop.
