We are open every day of the year!  So, whether you want to stroke a rare breed sheep, take a leisurely stroll round the farm, have a picnic, watch the children play, or simply enjoy the sights & sounds of the farm you know where to come!

Come and meet the animals, relax in the gardens, stroll around the nature trail, let off steam in the children's play areas or simply stop by for a picnic. We'd love to see you!

Gorse Hill practices small-scale humane farming and organic horticulture, and has four main principles:

  • community involvement
  • organic principles
  • humane treatment of animals
  • co-operative working

If you would like to get more involved, we have farm membership and animal adoption schemes - which help us raise the £150,000 we need each year.

Opening hours

Summer 10am - 4.30pm, Winter 10am - 4.00pm

Entrance to the farm is by donation (we suggest £2 for adults and £1 for children).

Gorse Hill City Farm is 2 miles NW of Leicester city centre, on Anstey Lane (B5327), well sign-posted - just follow the brown and white sheep signs - we are right next door to English Martyr's Secondary school.

There is a small car park at the top of the drive or, if you are using public transport; the no.74 bus, found on Charles Street, next to the Haymarket entrance (barring any changes) drops you off right next to the farm - very handy!
