Breed Information

Gloucester Old Spot

The Gloucester Old Spot was registered as a breed in 1914. They originated from the Berkely Valley region, but are now spread out across Britain. At first they were known as the Orchard Pig, due to the fact that their staple food at the time was windfall apples and whey. They are a registered rare breed.

 Middle White

The Middle White Pigs originate from Keighley in Yorkshire in 1852., but they did not become a registered breed until Not 1884, so that is their official starting date. The breed was created by crossing Large White pigs with Small White pigs. In the period between the two wars the Middle White was one of the most popular pigs in the country, but numbers began to decline due to cheaper imports becoming available. The Middle White Pig is now a registered rare breed.
