Plant a Seed

Plant a Seed

Suitable for EYFS, KS1 & lower KS2

Approximately 20 mins per group of 15

Plant a seed mini session is new for 2017, we have designed this session to fit in with the national curriculum statutory requirements.

KS1 children will learn how seeds and bulbs grow into plants as well as find out what a plant needs to stay healthy. They will also learn about common plants found in England, understand the difference between deciduous and evergreen plants and trees and be able to identify the parts of a  flowering plant.

EYFS groups we have simplified elements of the KS1 session.

KS2 children will explore all of this as a foundation and in more detail and then find out about a plants life cycle and the part a pollinator has to play in this.

During the session children will be asked to complete tasks. Encouraged to ask and answer questions and will plant a seed to take back to school with them. They will also take an instruction sheet so they know how to care for their plant.

‘Mini Beast Hunts’ & ‘Pond Dipping’

Suitable for EYFS to KS2

Approximately 20 mins per group of 15

These sessions are short snappy sessions allowing children to explore the nature areas of the farm. We have a wildlife garden and wildlife pond on site which we nurture throughout the year to encourage wildlife to make their homes there. During these sessions the children will explore and log the creatures they find and come to understand more about the world around them and why insects are so important as well as how they can help to protect the environment around school and where they live.
