Volunteering:

We are only open to volunteers who are 16 years old and above at the moment.
You will need to fill out a form, and provide us with a character reference - just to make sure you're the perfect fit for us.
We charge a small Fee per person. per year. this is just adminstration fees, but you can visit the Farm anytime for free as a volunteer during the year of your membership.

We try to offer a variety of opportunities at Gorse Hill City Farm. Generalised volunteering will usually involve a longer day working with the other team members, doing a variety of jobs but we also want volunteers to be able to choose what areas they would like to focus on. If you have an interest in one of the following areas, please list it under "We’d like to know more about you and your interest in Gorse Hill City Farm" in the form provided.

Gardening

Enjoy getting green fingers? We're always looking for more help in our garden area.
It's very hands on work, which can be quite satisfying and it's cheaper than a gym membership.

Cafe

Learn what working in a professional catering setting is like by volunteering in our Café - great for your CV. 

Farm work

Help us look after our beloved farm animals. Including feeding, enclosure cleaning and occasionally routine medical procedures such as trimming hooves.

IT and Admin

There are many different things to do related to our office, taking and subsequently editing photos for social media, many admin related tasks and seeing some behind the scenes on our website, answer the phone and dealing with customer enquiries.

Education

We offer children a variety of educational experiences at the farm and will always welcome more help in this area. A focus on helping with talks and animal viewings or guided tours.

Maintenance 

Get some hands on experience with hammers, nails. drills and other tools. Great for learning DIY skills.

Gorse Hill City Farm is an organisation with ambitious plans for future development of the Farm.
We are a registered charity operated as a company limited by guarantee.
The board of directors of the company are also trustees of the charity.
To help us grow we need experienced members of the public to join our Board.
